The Opportunity
We are seeking an Executive Director to serve as the chief administrative officer and program director for our Foundation. Reporting to the President of the Foundation, the Executive Director will oversee grant-making programs and explore new grant opportunities, ensuring that Board objectives are translated into specific plans for achievement. As well, the Executive Director will oversee office administration and community relations,
and will serve as a manager and mentor for our staff team (presently consisting of two program officers, a program coordinator, and an administrative assistant). Key responsibilities for this role include: program development, program implementation, governance facilitation and support, Foundation administration and management.
About the Foundation
The Pathy Family Foundation is a private family foundation based in Montreal. We focus our efforts on helping disadvantaged people meet their basic needs, and on assisting them in developing and sustaining a better quality of life. The Foundation aims to achieve these goals by investing in leadership and education initiatives, as well as in supporting organizations that provide humanitarian aid and access to basic resources.
The Foundation Board comprises two generations of family members, all of whom share a deep commitment to the Foundation's objectives. Family members are highly engaged, acting as champions for individual projects, and participating in site visits to grantee locations. Mr. Laurence G. Pathy, President of the Foundation, received the 2006 Outstanding Philanthropist Award from the Quebec chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

The Ideal Candidate - Key Experience and Competencies
- Previous experience in program oversight and grant-making is highly desirable;
- A proven track record in building partnerships with international development organizations as well as program/field experience and experience working in Northern communities or outside of Canada;
- Strong vision, drive, initiative and focus on strategic objectives;
- Demonstrated commitment to public or community service;
- Strong communications skills in both verbal and written English; Knowledge of French is an asset;
- A high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to generate trust and motivate others;
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in the not for profit sector is expected;
- A University degree is required;
- An understanding of and enthusiasm for the Foundation's mission, philosophy, values and activities.
