OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Substandard/Spurious/Falsely labelled/Falsified/Counterfeit Medical Products (SSFFC) Global Surveillance and Monitoring Project has been designed to enable Member States to report incidents of SSFFC to WHO in a more systematic manner. The collection and subsequent analysis of these incidents will provide a clearer and more accurate asssessment of the threat posed by SSFFC medical products. This analysis will permit the reporting of global and regional trends, the identification of weaknesses and vulnerabilities and will attempt, in the future, to estimate the scale, scope, value and harm caused by SSFFC medical products.The information gathered through this project will allow policy makers to make evidence-based decisions in designing strategies to tackle this issue, and support the work of the newly formed SSFFC Member States Mechanism.
Description of duties:
This role requires the incumbent to assist in carrying out analysis of the incidents reported to the project and provide support and advice, where required, to Member States.
a) Risk-assesses incoming reports utilizing a bespoke risk-asssessment model in a timely and thorough manner.
b) Engage and liaise with the originator of the report to elicit further detail concerning the incident.
c) Complete fields within the SSFFC reporting system to enable progress tracking of incidents.
d) Assist in compiling regular digests of reported incidents.
e) Assist in completing regular geographic and thematic reports as required.
f) Identify trends, vulnerabilities and weaknesses arising from analysis of the reports.
g) Assist in the provision of material to support the SSFFC Member States Mechanism.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in medicine, law, international development or related field.

Skills:
Ability to assimilate and analyse large amounts of data from disparate sources. Proven ability in the field of analytical and critical thinking. A high level of motivation, initiative, flexibility and sense of responsibility. Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders of all nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to compile complex written reports in a clear and concise manner, tailored to the needs of the intended audience. Good presentation skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a small team. Ability to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to establish network of relevant contacts to enhance the business of the project. Results orientated.

Experience:
A minimum of five years experience working in health and development related fields including analysis of health or crime related issues.
Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and working knowledge of French are required.

Monthly salary: (Net of tax)
USD 4,674 / month at single rate
USD 5,007 / month with primary dependants     Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
