OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Financial Analyst (FA) provides financial analysis and operational and management support for LMG’s overhead budget and portfolio of projects, under the direction of the Deputy Director for Finance and Administration (DDFA). To this end, s/he develops routine and ad hoc reports for LMG Projects’ senior staff to ensure the regular flow of accurate and relevant financial information for enhanced project management and planning. With guidance from the DDFA, s/he performs financial analysis of assigned portfolios and task orders, and develops annual project and activity budgets. The FA actively participates in improving and maintaining LMG’s financial management systems and is aware of, and adheres, to MSH’s policies, procedures, and standards in all activities s/he performs.

The FA will be the point person for all LMG travel, coordinating with the assigned LMG travel liaisons to compile monthly travel requests for submission to the project AOR for approval. The FA will also ensure that all travel is approved and budgeted for before purchase.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •     Ensure TraiNet and VCS compliance, and track all LMG-funded trainings.
  •     Coordinate all LMG and USAID travel, travel tracking, and travel expense reporting. Orient staff, especially project associates, on travel systems and protocols.
  •     Maintain an accruals log for all project expenses greater than $10,000.
  •     Provide LOE reports, when needed.
  •     Work in collaboration with the DDFM, the project activity managers, and designated project activity support staff, track all potential and booked LMG Cost Share and provide quarterly reports to the LMG leadership, MSH leadership, and the AOR.
  •     Work with DDFA to maintain, develop, and adapt financial management tools and systems as necessary, including the LMG budget templates, financial information repositories, and financial report formats. Assist in developing and maintaining current documentation regarding the LMG’s financial systems, procedures, and processes across projects.

General Finance, Operations, and Management Support Responsibilities

    In coordination with the DDFA, create and manage assigned charge codes, ensuring consistency with defined LMG code structure and fulfillment of project management requirements.

    As delegated by the DDFA, identify areas of financial training, including financial capacity building, needed in the LMG Project, Field offices, and organizations identified by USAID, and provided trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a similar field and 2–4 years of relevant work experience.
  • or
  •     Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a similar field and 0–2 years of relevant work experience. Master’s degree, preferred.
  •     Advanced spreadsheet skills required. Familiarity with accounting or business information systems software strongly preferred. Database skills desired. (Microsoft Office applications preferred).
  •     Proven ability to assess priorities, handle a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet competing deadlines with great attention to detail and quality.
  •     Independently motivated with excellent interpersonal skills; flexibility; proven ability to take initiative and to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  •     Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  •     Familiarity with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) or comparable government regulatory environment highly desirable.
  •     English language skills required. French and/or Spanish skills, preferred.
  •     Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically, as required.
  •     Willingness to learn and adapt.
