The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) is a US based not for profit. It supports emerging industries, financial institutions, and governments in developing countries by deploying a mix of technical assistance and volunteer support. It has worked in partnership with local firms in 130 countries, often with the support of USAID in designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.

About the Job:
IESC is seeking a Financial Services Practice Leader. S/he will serve as the overall champion for the business line by cultivating relationships, winning significant new program work, and managing IESC delivery of high quality technical assistance and capacity building engagements.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  •     Lead the growth of a competitive financial services practice area, which leverages the organization’s existing project portfolio and overall economic growth experience;
  •     Advise the senior management team on opportunities for diversification and lead efforts to pursue and secure alternative business opportunities that fall under the financial services umbrella;
  •     Lead IESC’s new business efforts in financial services, including identification of opportunities, technical proposal writing, identification of personnel, and identification and negotiation with partner organizations;
  •     Represent IESC in knowledge sharing of financial services innovations and best practices in forums and through special studies that document lessons-learned;
  •     Provide technical guidance, oversight, and quality control for new programs and technical assistance initiatives that fall within the practice area;
  •     Work closely with the Washington, DC-based project managers, as well as field based teams to support their efforts and ensure that programs are exceeding all deliverables.

Qualifications:
  •     Advanced degree in a discipline related to financial services;
  •     At least 10 years’ progressive experience with USAID and or other multilateral donor financial services projects and programs;
  •     Technical experience in areas including SME and agribusiness access to credit, MFIs capacity building, value chain finance, and credit guarantees;
  •     Demonstrated experience contributing to winning proposals is required;
  •     Understanding of USAID and/or other donor procurement processes and regulations;
  •     Substantive knowledge of social capital and/or international equity funds and how to apply investment principles in a development context is required;
  •     Strong writing, quantitative, analytical, and research skills;
  •     Strong organizational, communications, marketing, and interpersonal skills;
  •     Fluency in English and one other foreign language desirable.
