Malaria Consortium is one of the world's leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the comprehensive
control of malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Southeast Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, government and non-government agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. The organisation works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.

Malaria Consortium has its main South Sudan office in Juba and a sub office in Aweil, Northern Bar el Ghazel. In FY2013, South Sudan had an annual programme value of approximately £2M and employed approximately 70 staff. Its major programme areas include iCCM and nutrition for under 5’s, health systems strengthening and LLIN distribution, in additional to operational research.
Malaria Consortium has been notified by a donor that it will be awarded an £8M four-year project to control neglected tropical diseases (NTD) in South Sudan, which will focus on blinding trachoma, bilharzia, lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis and soil transmitted helminths. Working closely with the Ministry of Health and its partners, Malaria Consortium will carry out disease mapping, mass drug administration (MDA) and behaviour change communication, resulting in a total of 28M treatments over the life of the project.
As a member of the senior country management team, the Project Director - NTDs will provide leadership, stakeholder management and representation to this strategically important project. The successful candidate will have :
 • Postgraduate and/or doctoral degree in international health or related discipline
 • Extensive international experience at senior management level working in public health, preferably malaria and/or NTDs
 • Proven leadership skills and team leading
• Partnership/consortium management
• Significant experience in project management
• Donor liaison and reporting
• Excellent English language presentation, writing and reporting skills
• Technical knowledge and skills in control of malaria or NTDs
• Monitoring and evaluation of large scale projects
• Experience with MDAs
• Experience working with Ministries of Health, preferably in Africa
• Understanding of DfID Value for Money approach
• Strong negotiation skills
• Excellent personal and time management skills
