 Job Description
The TRACC Residential Programs is a group of separate houses in the Logan and Brisbane community providing housing and support to children 8 - 17 years, who are not able to live with their own family or who are unable stay in their family home and are living in out-of-home-care. These residential homes are staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by both male and female care workers.

Our compassionate and proactive team at TRACC Logan is currently looking for positive, caring and professional Casual Residential Care Workers to provide children and young people with therapeutic care and the opportunity to live in a safe, nurturing environment that enhances and empowers their ability to create positive life goals and provides the tools through which those goals can be achieved.

You will be expected to create a therapeutic setting and family environment to facilitate emotional development and assist in teaching life and social skills to enable greater connectedness for these young people with the community. You will also promote pro-social behaviour and employ strategies, responses and techniques that are respectful to the child or young person's dignity to manage challenging or extreme behaviours. Staff are also required to undertake domestic duties such as washing, cooking and shopping and engage children in these activities as appropriate.

Our successful applicants will hold qualifications in the Behavioural or Social Sciences or be studying towards these qualifications, have an understanding of the needs of children in care, and the ability to create an environment which nurtures, stimulates and encourages the development of young people. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, will work productively in a team yet have the ability to operate with autonomy and the wisdom to seek advice and authority when required.

You will also require:
* Possession of a current Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain one);
* Eligibility to gain a successful criminal history check/clearance through the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services);
* Possession of current open Queensland Driver's Licence or ability to acquire the same.
