Chemonics seeks a senior-level gender and youth specialist for a short-term assignment on the ongoing
USAID-funded Feed the Future Enabling Environment for Agriculture Project in Uganda. The project provides technical support toward increasing the value of agricultural production and trade and improving resilience to climate change. It is focused on increasing the capacity of counterparts in Uganda to identify and address high-return policy and regulatory priorities. This assignment is expected to begin in November 2013 and be completed by December 2013, and the specialist must be able to work and travel throughout Uganda. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  •     Review policy and regulatory constraints of agricultural production, processing, marketing, and trade and how gender impacts each point along the value chain
  •     Develop recommendations on how the project can engage with the private sector and civil society organizations on policy development in agricultural development, agricultural trade, and climate change adaption policy recommendations
  •     Draft a gender and youth action plan for the project, including an overview and specific interventions by result in accordance with USAID policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  •     Advanced degree in agriculture, gender studies, or a related field preferred
  •     Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  •     Experience working with USAID-funded projects preferred
  •     Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •     Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  •     Fluency in English required
