Role overview
You'll focus on supporting district and county inspectors as they seek to
implement quality standards in primary education. Working closely with key
stakeholders, e.g. Teaching Colleges, Coordinating Centre Tutors (CCTs) and
regional inspectors you'll provide advice to trainees on preparation for
inspections. You'll conduct teaching , learning and classroom management
workshops with Inspectors, pre-service tutors and Coordinating Centre Tutors
(CCTs); conduct training for head teachers, teachers, School Management
Committees (SMCs) and Parent Teacher Associations (PTA's) on whole school
planning and evaluation; coach Inspectors and CCTs to engage community members
in whole school planning.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
You have a degree in Education and several years' primary inspection
experience. Management experience, particularly school management, would be
advantageous. You have excellent communication skills, particularly written and
IT literacy. You are a strong networker, with organisation skills and results
oriented.
VSO Uganda works with both national and local government, as well as civil
society, to contribute towards improving the standard of primary education in
Uganda. This work is part of a wider vision of ensuring that every child has
access to a complete and quality primary education. The objective of achieving
universal primary education is one the key development goals in VSO Uganda's
country strategy. Note that this placement will require some amount of travel
within the region. This opportunity is based in a remote area of Uganda.
Volunteers will be based in shared accommodation.
