U.S. Embassy London is searching for a Commercial Specialist
who will have primary responsibility for the Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) sectors in the UK. The ideal candidate will be characterized
by excellent interpersonal skills, superb attention to detail and in-depth
industry knowledge of the UK's business environment.
In this varied and challenging role, you will be working as
a member of the U.S. Commercial Service (CSUK) within the Embassy. Duties will
include:
* promoting and facilitating U.S. exports of goods and
services in the following sectors: audio visual, computer services, computer
software, computer hardware, consumer electronics, cyber security, electronic
commerce, information services, telecom equipment and services, and related
products/services;
* providing in-depth business counseling to U.S. exporters
on the UK market and on complex regulations governing the information and
communication technology and other assigned sectors;
* advising U.S. exporters on strategies for market entry and
expansion and preparing customized matchmaking services;
* participating as a speaker in briefings, seminars, and
webinars;
* planning, organizing, and promoting a variety of trade
events in assigned sectors;
* researching and monitoring the market to identify and
report on trade and business opportunities and to write in-depth, analytical
market research reports;
* developing and maintaining mid- to high-level contacts in
government, trade associations and the business community;
* counseling UK business executives on prospective U.S.
suppliers and partners;
* reporting on major activities and on success stories for
U.S. exporters.
A university graduate, you will have progressed your career
within either sales, marketing, business development, strategic planning,
product management, and/or consulting within the public or private sector,
and/or in an industry association or trade promotion position. Alternatively,
you may have gained commercial service experience as a Commercial Specialist or
Commercial Assistant.
This opportunity will utilize your strong knowledge of the
UK market for information and communication technology products and services.
This role will also tap into your solid written, oral and
research skills as you will be regularly called upon to develop and maintain a
broad network of mid-to high level contacts with UK private sector and
government officials in the assigned industry sectors.
