This
position is located in the Human Rights Council Support and
Coordination Section, Human Rights Council Branch, Human Rights Council
and Special Procedures Division of the Office of the High Commissioner
for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the incumbent reports to the Chief of the

Responsibilities
Under the functional and direct supervision of the Chief of Section, the incumbent:

Assists in the organization and servicing of meetings of the Human
Rights Council (HRC), the Consultative Group (CG) and the HRC’s
subsidiary bodies and related activities, particularly preparation of
files and documents and logistical support prior to and during meetings;

Initiates administrative requests for meetings. Makes necessary
arrangements for meetings, including issuance of invitations,
preparation of attendance lists and agenda, correspondence with
participants and any follow-up action.
- Receives, scans and
distributes documents, reports and correspondence relating to meetings
of the HRC, the CG and the HRC’s subsidiary bodies;
- Drafts notes verbales/letters relating to meetings of the HRC and the CG.

Formats draft reports and resolutions for the HRC and its subsidiary
bodies in accordance with the UN-wide standards, including during their
sessions.
- Monitors and keeps track of correspondence and
information related to the HRC, the CG and the HRC’s subsidiary bodies
and ensures they are placed on the HRC Internet and Extranet sites and
relevant databases, including the updating of lists of contact details
and mailing lists of the HRC Bureau Members, Regional Coordinators, HRC
Member States, among others.
- Prepares dossiers and other files for
the sessions of the CG; services the meetings of the CG, including by
distributing/storing dossiers, files and other materials.
- Responds to queries on information concerning the CG.

Enters information related to the CG into IMDIS for programme
performance reporting; assists in the preparation of the budget for both
RB and XB; assists with the recruitment process; assists in the
initiation and follow up of administrative actions, including
recruitment and appointment of personnel and travel arrangements for
staff and experts.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be successful in the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT).
Work Experience
Five
years of programme assistance or relevant secretarial experience, of
which preferably three years within the UN, preferably with
intergovernmental bodies.Qualifying years of experience are calculated
following the date of the high school or secondary school diploma.
Languages
English
and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the
position advertised, fluency in oral and written English and French is
required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Recruitment for this position is done on a local basis, whether or not the candidate is a resident of the duty station.
Passing
the Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) at Headquarters or an
equivalent recognised locally-administered test at a United Nations
Office is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General
Service category in the United Nations Secretariat.
