  Summary

The NDI Subgrants Team approves, issues, and monitors subgrants granted to international NGOs and US-based organizations. Because the majority of the funds granted originate from a US Government agency (USAID, Dept. of State, etc.), NDI monitors the subgrantees to ensure they are in compliance with federal regulations. The Subgrants Administrator assures compliance of subgrantees with federal and organizational regulations of the financial portion of grants administration by performing the following duties:..

Primary Responsibilities

    Reviews all subaward proposals and budgets submitted to NDI assuring compliance with donor and organizational guidelines.
    Reviews the accounting procedures and internal controls of each organization and provides useful recommendations for improvements.
    Prepares subaward packages, routes to management for approvals, and issues the agreements to subrecipients.
    Monitors reports and ensures timely submission of reports by the subrecipients.
    Manages the drawdown process for the subgrants.
    Maintains subgrant binders with agreements and correspondence, and maintains subgrants database.
    Attends the regional team meetings periodically.

Required Skills

    Bachelors Degree in Accounting
    Minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience, preferably related to international grants. Additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a one-for-one basis
    Previous experience with international nonprofit organization preferred
    High level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities
    Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and subaward recipients
    Good oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate findings and analyses to subrecipients
    Ability to read, analyze and interpret government and organization rules and regulations
    Working knowledge of database, word processing and spreadsheet applications, as well as experience with accounting software
    Working knowledge of OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133
