OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Department of Communications (DCO) objectives are to: ensure timely production and dissemination of high quality public information on longstanding and emerging public health issues through various platforms (print, web, broadcast, social media, etc.) and in multiple languages; define and promote a consistent corporate identity for WHO internally and externally; create a 21st century "culture of communications" at WHO by strengthening capacity at every level; contribute to managing WHO's reputation by monitoring public opinion and concerns, and responding to them trategically; and lead the strategic communications response to epidemics and pandemics, public health emergencies and for the health aspects of humanitarian crises.
Description of duties:

AUDIO-VISUAL SERVICE PROVISION:

Support the development of content for news, communications products such as news interviews, video statements, audio files, photo stories, animated presentations, short videos, b-roll, podcasts video clips and motion graphics.
Provide production services for routine and emergency broadcasts, press conferences including virtual press conferences and produce recorded video and audio clips.
Help ensure that audio-visual content is distributed to news and other channels.
Provide support when needed to broadcasts media and photographers covering WHO news and events.
Help maintain WHO studios in good working order, manage movable and immovable assets and ensure workflow is efficient and optimized to meet deadlines and targets.
Provide audio-visual support as needed for communications.
Provide direct audio-visual services support for corporate priorities and/or involving the Director-General.
Help produce training videos for communications capacity building and webinars for staff.
Contribute to communications surge capacity.
Work as part of WHO emergency communications teams as needed during humanitarian or public health emergencies and be deployed to the field as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential
Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.
Formal training in audio-visual production.
Skills:
Proven skills in audio-visual recording and post-production.
Knowledge of modern multi-media news and feature delivery.
Attention to detail, flexibility and creativity.
Understanding of latest AV technology and software and willingness to follow trends on new products, techniques and styles.
Ability to use electronic databases and other work flow management tools and platforms.
Knowledge of web and social media and ability to produce content for social media.
Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with multiple interdisciplinary teams.
Formal or self-training in the use of standard office software.

Experience:
Essential
At least 5 years of experience in the audio-visual communications field with proven experience in providing audio-visual services.
Experience working as a cameraman, photographer, video editor or audio-visual production assistant.

Desirable
Video library, cataloguing and information management experience an asset.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English with a working knowledge of French are essential.
