The Applied Life Skills Advisor galvanizes the efforts of life skills practitioners across all World Vision sectors and cross-cutting themes to help teens and preteens in programme impact areas learn the key life skills competencies to help them lead productive and fulfilling lives. They actively participate in life skills interagency collaboration, lead the development and expansion of a WV Life Skills Community of Practice, and coordinate the development of an expanded matrix of recognised best applied life skills practices for WV programme models.

We are looking for a visionary leader who can combine strong business disciplines with inspirational spiritual leadership skills in line with our Christian values and ethos. You will have a passionate desire to help others, especially children.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Lead the development of the Applied Life Skills area of work for EdLS, in collaboration with the Senior Director for Child Protection & Development (CP&D) and the Senior Director for EdLS.

• Lead the development and expansion of a Life Skills Community of Practice that includes a guiding steering committee of key sector leads, and a core team of lead life skills technical experts.

• Direct the on-going development and refinement of the Positive Adolescent Development framework of best practice models.

• Participate in global fora and interagency consortia involved in galvanizing action, setting standards, and developing toolkits to further develop this emerging field.

• Identify from within Education and other sectors and themes involved in applied life skills programming relevant M&E best practices; assembling and disseminating them to Regional Offices and National Offices for use at programme level.

• Liaise with all regional life skills stakeholders to leverage innovations for the benefit of the wider Partnership.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
• M.A. in a social discipline relevant to applied life skills education.

• 8-10 years of experience actively engaged in applied life skills education among disadvantaged populations.

• Broad experience training peer educators. Broad experience in at least two of the major arenas of applied life skills learning at World Vision, viz., youth participation/citizenship, HIV & AIDS prevention, spiritual nurture, peace building, or entrepreneurship.

• Strong community engagement skills and experience.
