GENERAL FUNCTION
The Program Associate provides administrative and technical
support for programs under the supervision of the Program Management Unit (PMU)
VP. The Program Associate will be expected to perform complicated tasks
requiring prior experience, education or training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist the PMU VP with proposal development.
- Assist in preparation of proposals/reports/budgets; write, edit, proof, revise and assemble finished materials.
- Maintain project activity tracking schedules for project development, field reports, and follow-up communications with funders.
- Assist the PMU staff with project oversight, including financial tracking and progress towards program deliverables.
- Assist with set-up and PR for new projects, including ex-pat and local staff recruitment.
- Coordinate interns working on the desk.
- Provide project field staff with support such as research, correspondence and procurement.
- Represent Internews and the desk to other NGOs, funders, and government officials.
- Research and communicate with other NGOs domestically and abroad on issues involving the media, civil society, freedom of press, health and the environment, children's rights and women's issues.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date briefing and PR materials for active programs.
- Track the budgets for the desk's projects; produce expense reports and submit vouchers.
- Coordinate travel logistics, assist with visa applications, and arrange accommodations for the Regional/Global Director and other Internews representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- 1-3 years development project experience, including field experience, OR a relevant advanced degree
- Superior analytical and writing ability for proposal development
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Experience with proposal writing
- Experience with MS Excel and Word
- Experience making complex travel arrangements
- Proven organization skills, with attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize with a shifting workload
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment
- Relevant university degree.
PREFERRED
Experience with
financial management and familiarity with USAID rules and regulations
Experience with
event planning and/or arranging logistics for project implementation abroad
Familiarity with a
database such as Filemaker Pro and a remote document retrieval such as CuteFTP
Experience
preparing expense reports and budgets
