Duties and responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Field Officer the incumbent performs the following duties:
- Assist the Assistant Field Officer in monitoring and addressing the needs of people of concern to UNHCR;
- Undertake frequent visits to various sites in order to assess the needs of UNHCR's persons of concern, with particular attention to vulnerable groups, such as older persons, children at risk, persons with disabilities, women at risk;
- Monitor the local developments in relation to the protection function of the Office;
- Conduct surveys, household interviews and other assessments with persons of concern, including men, women, girls and boys, in the operational area using a participatory approach;
- Liaise with all concerned personnel in maintaining and managing the protection data;
- Mobilize communities to keep up community interest and participation in the project activities, and to build partnership relationships;
- Enhance community support by bringing local knowledge and cultural understanding, coupled with specific experience and qualifications, to ongoing activities;
- Maintain regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested;
- Provide periodic monitoring reports, including observations, findings, and suggestions for improvement, to the supervisor;
- Perform translation/interpretation duties as needed;
- Perform other duties as required;
Qualifications required: Knowledge and skills:
Completion of secondary education and/or University Degree preferably in social science, economics, international relations or law;
Good computer skills as well as information management, communication and co-ordination skills;
Team spirit; Cultural sensitivity.
Experience:
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible work experience in the protection field or related field
Language:
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English and Myanmar.
Knowledge of any local dialects of the operational area will be an advantage.
