KPMG is a leading provider of professional services, which
include audit, tax and advisory. KPMG’s
International Development Advisory
Services (IDAS) unit is based in Nairobi, Kenya and has adopted a pan-African approach to
development work, employing full-time experienced development experts within
the KPMG Africa team at our headquarters in Nairobi,
together with a network of champions across the twenty - one countries of KPMG
in sub-Saharan Africa.
KPMG IDAS Africa coordinates projects throughout the
continent to ensure consistency of delivery and local team capacity
development. IDAS Africa’s work spans the public, private and civil society
sectors and covers six technical areas: Programme Management, Fund and Grant
Management, Organisational Development and Performance Improvement, Improving
Accountability for Donors and Citizens, Private Sector Development, and
Rebuilding Fragile and Post-Conflict
States. Our country and
donor experience in Africa is extensive.
Due to continued growth in the region, KPMG is always
working on and bidding for new programmes. We are currently looking for a Team
Leader for one of the programmes in our pipeline.
Specific roles and responsibilities:
Management
• Provide high quality technical and strategic leadership,
managerial oversight, and administration of the project.
• Oversee the design and planning of initiatives within the
programme including monitoring and evaluation and knowledge sharing.
• Oversee implementation and delivery of program activities.
• Accountable for the achievement of results, ensuring
quality of services are maintained at the highest standard, and that all
project objectives and deliverables are met.
Systems and
Operations
• Contribute to the establishment and management of a Trust
Fund.
• Adapt and implement management systems with standard
operating procedures to administer all activities funded by the project,
ensuring sufficient financial staff for disbursing all local costs under this
project, monitoring and tracking expenditures, and preparing financial reports
of project expenditures for submission to the donor.
• Assess the programme and fiduciary risks at regular
intervals and manage identified risks, including drafting and implementing
contingency plans.
Stakeholder
Engagement
• Serve as liaison between the Fund, Investors and KPMG.
• Collaborate with partners, donors, and stakeholder
representatives, building and maintaining productive relationships.
• Ensure long-term sustainability of the programme,
including a strategy for knowledge sharing and transfer of capacity and
expertise to the Government and other stakeholders.
Supervision
• Supervise direct reports with a particular focus on
achievement of key tasks and project deliverables.
• Develop staff skills and knowledge and facilitate
supervisee success and professional development whenever possible.
• Communicate, implement, and assure adherence to KPMG and
project policies, guidelines and values.
Reporting
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly,
quarterly, semi-annual and annual work plans and budgets, and present them for
approval to the relevant approving authorities.
Qualifications and Experience required:
Essential
• Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking,
and organisational, team-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven track record of leading complex projects, ideally
which bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, and
include development partners.
• Technical qualifications and practical experience in
agribusiness (preferable at graduate level in Agricultural Economics, Land
Economics, Economics, Agriculture or related fields).
• Experience in implementing and managing Challenge Funds a
distinct advantage
• Proven ability to function effectively with multiple
host-country counterparts and representatives from other key stakeholders such
as NGOs and other donors.
• Strong verbal and written English communication and
presentation skills, with proficiency in Kiswahili an advantage but not
essential
Desirable
• Experience in agribusiness finance.
• Experience of working in Sub-Saharan Africa; working in Tanzania and East Africa
in general.
• Familiarity with the Government of Tanzania and major
donor regulations and administrative procedures.
• Working proficiency in Swahili.
