The position The Aga Khan
Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is one of the largest and oldest not for
profit, private education network in Pakistan, dating back to 1905. The
portfolio comprises of 164 schools and five hostels, employs 1,600 teachers and
serves over 36,000 students from ages 3–18 years across the rural areas of
Gilgit-Baltistan (110), Chitral (46) Sindh and Punjab. The schools offer the
national curriculum through the English medium.
AKES,P is currently seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer to provide
management leadership and to drive an ambitious organisational change agenda to
reconfigure the current schools into a unified and leading edge Aga Khan school
system that is an integral part of the wider Aga Khan Development Network
education institutions and programmes in Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
Lead an executive team responsible
for the management of the AKES,P schools and education programmes. This will
include responsibility for portfolio performance, quality assurance,
operations, finance and administration, human resources and asset management
and communication. The CEO will drive the implementation of approved strategic
and change initiatives.
Strategic Priorities for 2014-2017
Standardise policies and
procedures and establish best practice to transition the schools into a unified
and coherent kindergarten to higher secondary school system.
Lead the development and
implementation of roll-out plans for the AKES,P strategic objectives. This
includes:
(i) establishment of an Education Management Information System,
(ii) restructuring of existing small and remote schools,
(iii) affiliation of all 37
secondary schools to the AKU Examination Board,
(iv) roll-out of the expansion plans
for early childhood provision, and
(v) integration of AKDN agreed
curriculum enhancements to the teaching of sciences and humanities.
Roll out the revised compensation
policy and revise the policies and procedures for performance management, staff
recruitment, induction and professional development and career progression.
The requirements /Person Specification:
The candidate will be a mature
and experienced senior executive with prior knowledge of the issues and
challenges of leading a complex organization ideally but not exclusively in the
field of education.
He/she will preferably have a
management or consultancy background and have demonstrated successful
leadership of an organizational change process, ideally within the context of
the developing world.
He/she will have a record of
successfully managing a sophisticated, multi-disciplinary executive team.
