About the Agency The Aga
Khan Foundation (AKF) is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a
group of private, international, non-denominational agencies founded by His
Highness the Aga Khan.
The Network's organisations have individual mandates that
range from the fields of health and education to culture, rural development and
the promotion of private-sector enterprise. AKDN is dedicated to improving
living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to faith,
origin or gender.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Support the development of
materials for policy and planning dialogue both internally and externally, in
close collaboration with the diplomatic AKDN office and the Director of Policy
and Partnerships, on all pertinent policy issues which arise;
·
Support programme teams to
develop policy/technical inputs into external policy discussions;
·
Support the maintenance and
follow up of the AKF Policy Matrix, follow-up on related briefs, and the
mainstreaming of policy dialogue throughout the organisation, in collaboration
with the Director;
·
In coordination with the Director
of Policy and Partnerships & Policy Manager, represent AKF in various
external meetings, including policy for a, roundtables and working group
meetings and help coordinate external relations across the Network, in
partnership with the AKDN diplomatic office;
·
Build on the overall Programme
Strategy to develop a series of specific policy papers that guide aspects of
AKF’s programming and influence policy dialogue;
·
Collaborate with other actors,
including donors and the NGO community, on preparing policy messages and
products as assigned;
·
Assist the AKF Communications
Manager in the preparation of strategic communications materials, which reflect
AKF’s policy positions.
·
Support proposal and grants
management when needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
·
Undergraduate degree in relevant
field and at least three years of work experience in a similar or relevant field;
·
Excellent English written and
verbal skills;
·
Experience working in a
multicultural environment, preferably in a post-conflict one;
·
Demonstrate experience working
with a variety of external stakeholders, and representing an organizations
views, positions, and messages (acting as a spokesperson);
·
Demonstrated ability to work
under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
·
Ability to critically analyze and
provide constructive recommendations;
·
Good team player with ability to
build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues;
·
Willingness to live and work in a
post-conflict zones
·
Fluency in Dari preferable, not
necessary.
