JOB SUMMARY:
This position is located in the Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., Washington, DC in the Bureau for Democracy Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance, (DCHA), Program, Policy and Management (PPM) office.

DUTIES:
Incumbent will serve as a Secretary responsible for coordinating all clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities required to accomplish the work of the office; maintaining and controlling the supervisor's calendar, scheduling meetings and appointments without prior approval;coordinating the purchase of equipment and supplies for the organization by ascertaining the needs of subordinate offices and consolidating their requests into a single request for the organization as a whole;acquiring equipment and services through standard procedures for procuring, authorizing, controlling, and justifying the purchases;systematically evaluating and improving office operations for an extensive organization with varying functions performed in subordinate offices and using formal procedures to track the coordination of work performed inside and outside of DCHA.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to qualify at the GS-8 level you must meet 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:experience involving the day-to-day administrative support activities required to accomplish the work of the office;maintaining the supervisor's calendar, scheduling meetings and appointments;purchasing office equipment and supplies and using formal procedures to track the coordination of work.
Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute, making three or fewer errors per minute.
Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date. This means that you must have served at least 52 weeks at the next grade level (or equivalent) below the grade advertised on this vacancy announcement.
