The Director Fundraising will support the India BUILDS Capital Campaign in raising at least $100 million (USD) in order to serve 100,000 families by 2015.


The Director Fundraising will work on a day-to-day basis with, CEO, Board of Trustees, CFO, Director Operations & Technical Services and Resource Development Team among others. The Director Fundraising will report to and be managed by the CEO, with reporting responsibilities to India Builds Capital Campaign Advisory Board and Asia-Pacific Campaign Team. Tasks and Responsibilities:

    As Director Fundraising need to develop fund-raising strategy, setting priorities, goals and budget, researching and identifying potential donors, cultivating potential donors and communicating with current donors.
    The Director of Fundraising will be expected to liaise closely with the Director of Operations & Technical Services, Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Executive Officer for execution of his duties
    Need to develop/writing proposals to obtain grants, preparing presentations to deliver to potential donors and key stakeholders, and overseeing event planning and campaigns as needed.
    Working with NO and AP Communications staff to ensure the development of a comprehensive public relations and communications plan;
    To identify fundraising opportunities in line with organizational planning, preparing applications to Governments, Corporate Sector, Grant making bodies and companies and managing subsequent reporting and relationships with funding partners;
    To achieve annual fundraising income targets in line with organizational planning and associated budgets;
    Providing a clear time line for all planned activities in any given year including direct mail, appeals, raffles, newsletters, challenge events, and other events as a part of the continuous brand awareness efforts
    As Director of Fundraising, you will oversee the development and management of the Fundraising team.
    To innovate, introduce and execute new fundraising methodologies with immediate highest priority
    To plan, organize, and execute Fund raising Events and arrange sponsorships for such Events.
    To develop a major donor fundraising programme and long-term marketing strategy
    Preparing regular progress reports for the NO's leadership, Advisory committee, AP and HFHI, and attending relevant regional and global meetings;
    To lead, supervise and appraise the RD staff team. To set targets for each RD staff member. To ensure all objectives are met timely, according to the plan.
    To line manage, develop and motivate other members of the fundraising team, whether they are employees, volunteers, interns or fund raising consultants.
    Develops the institutional capacity for fundraising and the fundraising skills of individuals across the HRC's.
    Training for fundraising capacity. This will include designing and delivering training
    Prepares all annual and quarterly RD and financial reports filed with the Chief Executive officer, including the preparation of financial statements (Fundraised) and disclosure included in management's discussion and analysis
    Responsible for developing Government links and maintaining Government relation ship
    Working with HFHI and AP to create operative materials, including brochures, training guides, pledge cards, etc.
    Preparing detailed trip reports of all donor/prospect visits and other significant contacts, and ensuring they are shared appropriately with staff/leadership at National Office (NO), Asia-Pacific Office.
    To develop a relationship management database to ensure efficient and effective administrative systems for fundraising;
    Responsible for a full range of external public relations activities, for corporate advertising through community, donors, financial, and government relations;
    Responsible for strategic planning initiatives for all external and internal events on conferences seminars and fund raising events
    Responsible for National and Oversees event production and logistics from development of content, promotions, presentations, graphics/multimedia and other event-related marketing materials, projects, such as audio/video production,
    To content manage the fundraising section of the website and advise on ways to use the website to support wider fundraising initiatives;
    Leads IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future IT system across the organization
    Establishes IT departmental goals, objectives and operating procedures consistent with the Strategic Plan for fund raising.
    Responsible for developing church relations
    Perform all other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time.

Qualifications and Characteristics:

  •     A minimum of 5 years fundraising experience with a proven track record of success in fundraising
  •     Evidence of continuous professional development in the area of fundraising
  •     Strong technical knowledge of charitable fundraising techniques, including direct marketing/direct mail, committed giving, major gifts.
  •     Excellent interpersonal skills, Strategic and creative thinking, Good understanding of different donor audiences
  •     Excellent influencing and persuading skills
  •     Excellent organization and time management skills
  •     Highly focused on delivery and attainment of results
  •     Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills
  •     Highly competent in budgeting and fundraising planning.
  •     Well-developed IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and databases
  •     Experience of managing budgets, including planning, forecasting and analysing performance
  •     Due to the regional responsibility of the post, cultural sensitivity is required. International experience is desirable.
  •     Empathy with the vision, values and strategic aims of Habitat for Humanity
  •     Direct experience of building and maintaining successful relationships with major donors and key corporate supporters
  •     Require fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi.
