Qualifications:
Relevant University degree with specialisation in employee Relations
Relevant Bachelor Degree /Employee Relations/Psychology/Change Management
Experience:
At least five years’ employee relations experience within the manufacturing or mining industry
Solid understanding of labour legislation, BCOE and EE Legislative framework,
Previous work experience in Africa
Experience in the implementation of Employee Relations strategies in SA and other African Countries
Experience of planning and delivering employee relations initiatives
Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level
Ability
to assess potential problems and make sound judgments around issues
that may have an adverse effect on the business from an ER perspective
Strong people management skills, gained through managing and developing teams
Sensitive
people skills: a high level of emotional intelligence; excellent
interpersonal skills; a wide understanding of people issues
Competent computer skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility within the organization
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
Involvement consultation and gaining buy-in on important business decisions English Proficiency
Valid driver licence (code 8) and South African Passport
Willingness to travel
Duties:
Develop and Employee Relations Framework for BME International
Develop and implement Employee Relations policies and procedures for BME International
Implement Employee relations training and development initiatives to build capacity
Negotiate and Monitor union agreements in the relevant countries
Drive and oversee all employee relations initiatives within the operational Countries
Lead on the employee relations aspects of proposed changes to the business structure
Advise
and support all parts of the business on employee relations matters to
ensure their effective management. Issues include: disciplinary,
grievances and performance issues.
Provides advise with relation to
Contracts of employment, Terms and conditions of employment and
restructuring and workforce planning
Establish and co –ordinate management/employee/union communication committees to promote a healthy working culture
Keep up to date with current ER legislation and ensure this is aligned to BME International Employee Relations policies.
Develop a framework for collective bargaining and health and safety/employee well-being
