The Senior Regional Development Director for Southern California is a critical member of Conservation International's Major Gifts team, directly responsible for securing CI's fundraising targets and building a strong pipeline of donors in Southern California and other regions in the Southwest. A successful candidate
will be an energetic self-starter with a demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit significant gifts of six figures and more with the capacity to work within a dynamic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  •     Meet annual revenue goals for donors (combination of general operating revenue and restricted revenue) based in S. California (revenue goal will be set annually in accordance with FY revenue budget projections).
  •     Develop and execute cultivation strategies for new donor prospects with capacity of $1M and above. Engage in direct solicitations and cultivational meetings with donors and prospects including the creation of unique proposals or other materials as needed.
  •     In partnership with CI Senior Leadership, key volunteers and local Board members lead the cultivation and solicitation of multi-year gift requests in support of CI's general operating and restricted program needs
  •     Work closely with CI Development Events staff to execute one large gala and/or other major cultivation events in Los Angeles. This includes the identification of potential guests, pre and post-event donor cultivation and solicitation.
  •     Work closely with the VP, Major Gifts and the SVP of Development to support the cultivation of CI Board Members and Chairman's Council members in the region.
  •     The annual portfolio is expected to grow to $2.5 million annually within three years. The Senior Regional Development Director manages a portfolio of approximately 200 major donors and prospects.

Working conditions:

Normal office environment with 35% local travel and 5% regional travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:


  •     Four year degree.
  •     Seven to 10 years of major gift solicitation experience required.
  •     Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  •     Demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit significant gifts of six figures and more.
  •     Experience working with board members and key volunteers in the cultivation of prospects.
  •     Ability to work within a dynamic environment.
  •     Experience using Microsoft office suite and working with a fundraising database.
