North America Regional Office
The
UNOPS North America Regional Office provides services that help
implement projects for a range of partners, and support operations run
by the UNOPS Mine Action Cluster, Small Grants Cluster and Development
Group Cluster. In addition, the office serves as a liaison between UNOPS
headquarters and its Executive Board, which supports and supervises
UNOPS activities globally.

The
UNOPS Development Group Cluster is based in the North America Office
and supports a diverse and complex portfolio including partners such as
the United Nations Development Programme (the Bureau for Development
Policy, the Human Development Report Office, and the Special Unit for
South-South Cooperation), the United Nations Population Fund, the United
Nations Capital Development Fund, the United Nations Secretariat and a
broadening community of primarily New York-based UN partners in the
delivery of project management, implementation and administration
services.

The United
Nations Department of Field Support, Information and Communications
Technology Division (UN DFS-ICTD) is responsible for the delivery of
applications that satisfy the requirements of the Departments of
Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support (DPKO/DFS) missions as well as
Special Political Missions (SPMs).
DFS has implemented a range of
systems to address the principal requirements of peacekeeping operations
and to support and enhance the processes DFS undertakes.
UNOPS has been requested to assist in the implementation of this activity.
Functional Responsibilities
The incumbent will report to the Project Manager and will carry out the following functions:

Plan, design and implement SharePoint technology in DPKO/DFS in
accordance with the overall ICTD strategy together with the rest of
SharePoint project team;
· Take part in the process of determining
application and site specifications to provide technical advice in terms
of feasibility of management ideas;
· Build SharePoint sites,
master pages and Web Parts through SharePoint Designer or other Web
development application to fit DPKO/DFS needs according to
specifications provided and design approved by SharePoint project team;
·
Build new SharePoint features and solutions and edit built-in
SharePoint features and solutions to fit DPKO/DFS needs according to
specifications provided by SharePoint project team;
· Ensure that solutions provided fit into the pre-defined screen margins to improve the end-user browsing experience;
· Develop site navigation according to recommendations from SharePoint project team;
· Develop applications and build scripts to automate and simplify SharePoint routine tasks;
·
Follow up on latest SharePoint solutions from Microsoft, test them and
make recommendations for implementation of ones that might be used in
ICTD;
· Audit and review the existing SharePoint environment and
work closely with Site Managers to improve the appearance and layout of
Section sites;
· Manage SharePoint Content Databases through SQL Management Studio;
· Provide input and recommendations for high availability and disaster recovery planning;
· Assist SharePoint administrators with SQL related issues, including troubleshooting issues or generating queries;
· Assist SharePoint administrators with setting up Reporting Services for SharePoint and building reports using Report Builder;
· Other duties as required.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
EDUCATION:
- High School or equivalent diploma; First level degree highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
-
A minimum of 5 years of IT experience and strong understanding of
existing functionalities of Microsoft SharePoint 2007, 2010 and
SharePoint Server 2010 including InfoPath; web Part development
experience; PerformancePoint Development experience; Knowledge of
SharePoint 2010 custom UI development; Knowledge of Asp .Net, .Net
framework 3.5+, VB .NET and / or C#; Knowledge of HTML, Silverlight,
Jquery / Ajax, XML/XSLT, CAML;
- Minimum of 2 years in expert level on SharePoint Foundation 2010, SharePoint Designer 2010 and Visual Studio 2010+;
- Workflow Foundation Experience with .Net and Visual studio and Web Services Knowledge;
- Secure programming and team debugging experience;
- Strong knowledge of SQL, LINQ, Client Object Model and REST;

In depth understanding of following technologies: Windows 2008 Server,
Enterprise Search and Content Management, IIS 6/7, TCP /IP. Ability to
administer SharePoint sites using SharePoint Designer, and solid
understanding of how SharePoint navigation between different web
applications and site collections works including editing and practical
implementation of SharePoint SiteMap providers.
LANGUAGE:
- Fluency (written and spoken) in English essential.
