Scope:
The IRC has recently partnered with Child Care Aware of America, an organization that will offer refugee and asylee women the training to become licensed child care providers by June 1st—both in their homes, and as teacher assistants in a child care centers.
Home-based childcare provides many benefits for the community because the service increases the supply of convenient, safe, and culturally appropriate child care for mothers who would otherwise have to stay home. Moreover, by opening their own home business, refugee and asylee women will not only generate more income, but also become empowered leaders in their community. - Coordinate and facilitate communication between the landlord and families so that a strong and supportive partnership is formed between the women and their landlords
- Attend childcare training at 5500 Sinclair to understand the program needs and build rapport with the beneficiaries
- Coordinate women together who want to launch a joint Child Care venture
- Coordinate interpreters
