OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :

  • The ITT Department, as part of the General Management Cluster (GMG) exists to provide high quality and cost effective Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services which assist WHO to achieve its mission of health for all. The objective of the BSS unit is to provide a highly customer focused, cost effective partnership with its end users in order to better assist in the management of WHO's application and data needs (present and future).
  • Description of duties:
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with decision makers and IT specialists in assigned business units to better understand their current and future system needs. Keep up to date the listing of applications owned or used these units.
  • Document and share with other account managers findings from client interactions to develop a cross organizational perspective on system needs and to facilitate feedback to other ITT departments to add or improve their service. Conduct pre-project
  • consulting in response to potential solutions needs of clients. Guide clients towards common solutions or assist them in maturing their business case and laying the ground work for launching a project.
  • Manage assigned projects and products through their entire lifecycle from initiation to
  • business analysis, sourcing, development, deployment and operations.
  • Coordinate with the service providers (contractors, WHO IT technical staff) in charge of the development and deployment.
  • Assist in the design and development of tools, SOPs, and guidance documents for
  • internal team processes and client services.
  • Adhere to a governance mechanism to review and prioritize organizational system needs and match portfolios across user domains.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential
University degree in computer/information science or related field.

Desirable
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification.
Project Management Methodology (e.g. PMI, Prince2) certification.
Skills:
Managing the entire application development life cycle must be extremely conversant with all elements and how they are managed. IT project management with a track record of successful delivery of both in house and outsourced projects. Account management in the IT project and customer context. Working with external vendors delivering application development, solutions deployment, and customization services to end user. Managing portfolios of systems with cross user domain sharing and formal governance processes. Working within a larger IT team, understanding the various constraints existing across the different IT domains and contributing to the Departments overall direction. Communicating/negotiating with business focal points, end users, and with other ITT teams to establish projects. Working with outsourcing companies and geographically separated teams combined with extensive experience in a multi-cultural environment.

Possess working experience in an IT environment to a UN based organization. Working experience in providing end user support at different levels. Knowledge and experience in the use of low bandwidth collaboration tools. SOA and Web Services. Data base management systems and SQL.
Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and working knowledge of French.

  • Monthly salary: (Net of tax)
  • USD 4,674 at single rate
  • USD 5,007 with primary dependants     Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
