Location: Birmingham, UK
We are currently recruiting for an Operations Director based in
Birmingham, UK who will undertake overall strategic and operational
responsibility for all the Academy programmes and will manage a group of
Programme Managers and Admin staff. As an Operations Director of the
Academy, s/he will provide leadership to the Academy’s strategic
planning process and will implement new programmatic strategic
initiatives. In addition, the Operations Director will provide
coordination for the Academy’s senior management team, serve as liaison
to the IR Family Partners and work with IRW’s Board of Directors to keep
them abreast of programmatic strategies and challenges.
The Operations Director will be working in partnership with the MD to
create the strategic three-year plan and implement new processes and
approaches to achieve it. You will strengthen the Academy’s relations
with the wider humanitarian development community. The Operations
Director will oversee the delivery of training & development
programmes, Academy administration and will include line management of
the Academy team.
The successful applicant will need to have an excellent understanding of
the voluntary INGO sector and the business support needs that flow from
this. You will have experience in managing an education or training
environment is an advantage. Experience of coordinating staff and
motivating staff towards achieving Key Performance Indicators and
Organisational Strategy is desired. There is an opportunity to travel
around the world. You will be qualified to at least a Bachelors Level
(Masters desirable) in Business Administration or related discipline,
other qualifications will be considered.
Excellent communication skills in English is essential, knowing a second language (Arabic, French or German) is desirable.
