ABOUT REDR
Each year millions of people around the world feel the
effects of natural disaster and conflict. RedR is an
international
charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save
and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide. We do
this by delivering essential training and support to relief
organisations and their staff, and by supplying skilled professionals to
humanitarian programmes.
THE ROLE
This role will suit someone interested in
humanitarian assistance and international development from the programme
support side. As a member of International Programmes department the
candidate will gain experience of marketing aspects of capacity building
activities in our field offices as well as internal and external
communication in the context of programme management and implementation.
This role has a great focus on providing marketing support to the field
offices both in terms of development of marketing materials and
promoting RedR training courses. It will also support the International
Programmes team in drafting communication material for internal or
external use including donor reports, impact reports etc thus learning
about monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment in humanitarian
context. Through regular interaction with the field offices the
candidate will gain knowledge about the complex humanitarian context
RedR operates on the field level and will be able to build their
communication skills in multicultural setting.
PERSON SPECIFICATION The post-holder will have:
• keen
interest or experience in international relief and development and also
previous experience in cross cultural/ voluntary work;
• good writing, editing, research, analytical skills;
•
very good IT skills in MS Office (including Excel), Outlook, Internet,
InDesign and knowledge or experience to develop website content;
• some basic knowledge about administrative tasks like convening team meetings and taking minutes;
•
willingness to learn with a cheerful, hands-on, creative, pro-active
and methodical attitude and be flexible with the ability to undertake a
variety of tasks.
