Background BEST aims to teach entrepreneurship to its
beneficiaries, with the expectation that they will set
up microenterprises and
diversify their livelihoods. Profit obtained from the businesses will help them
to meet their daily needs and business skills gained will be passed on to their
families and communities. The project “Fighting poverty “(FIPO) intended to
improve livelihood security and increase the income of 360 people in the
villages of Usa-river, Kikatiti and Maji ya chai Wards in Meru District.
The aims of the
consultancy are:
(1) To review progress in implementing the project
activities of the 2010-13 project. (2) To assess the progress of the 2010-13
project against the expected outcomes. (3) To carry out an analysis of the
strengths and weaknesses of the design and implementation of the project paying
particular attention to (a) the factors that contribute to business successes
and business failures amongst project beneficiaries (b) the training provided
(c) follow-up support (4) To make recommendations for future action, including
any additional support that the organisation would need to implement these
recommendations (5) Advise BEST on how to carry out a needs assessment for a
new project and design the necessary tools and a detailed plan of action with
them
