Background Information:
For 60 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and
territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The
world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports
child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education
for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence,

Purpose of the Position
Under the guidance of the Gulf Area Representative, and as part of an
integrated (public and private sector) approach to resource mobilization in the
region, develops and manages fundraising from individual donors in the Gulf Area
(Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain), in
order to maximise flexible and predictable resources for UNICEF programmes to
achieve results for children.
Key Expected Results
1. Manage the acquisition of new
individual donors, including research, targeting, solicitation and cultivation
of prospects.
Key end result 1: The potential of relationships with new individual donors
is maximized in terms of resources for UNICEF programmes to achieve results for
children.
2. Manage relationships with
existing individual donors, ensuring optimal stewardship of the relationship
and contributions, and maintenance of accurate and confidential records on
donors and donations.
Key end result 2: The potential of
relationships with individual donors is maximized in terms of resources for
UNICEF programmes to achieve results for children.
3. Keep up to date with latest
developments in philanthropy in the Gulf Area, and contribute to the
development of UNICEF`s integrated (public and private sector) resource
mobilization strategy for the region, with a focus on individual donors.
Key end result 3: Plans remain
up-to-date and relevant, enabling the achievement of UNICEF`s goals for
resource mobilization in the Gulf Area.
4. Prepares, monitors and evaluates work plans and budgets for fundraising
from individual donors, and ensures objectives and targets are achieved;
identifies appropriate courses of action to maximise achievement of targets.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
- Advanced university degree in international development, social sciences,
business administration, management, marketing, communication or fundraising. A
first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be
accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Minimum eight years of relevant and progressively responsible work
experience, at least two of which should be in fundraising, donor relations
and/or philanthropy. Knowledge of fundraising and philanthropy is required, as
is an understanding of international development.
- Knowledge and experience of the Gulf Area context is an advantage, as is
experience of working in international organizations.
- Fluency in English is required.
Good working knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
